Sex Offender Need Assessment Rating (SONAR)
The Sex Offender Need Assessment Rating (SONAR) was developed to evaluate change in risk among adult male sexual offenders. It includes five relatively stable factors (intimacy deficits, negative social influences, attitudes tolerant of sex offending, sexual self-regulation, and general self-regulation) and for acute factors (substance abuse, negative mood, anger, and victim access). The rationale for the inclusion of each of these constructs is described below.
